CBR, heritage matters
The growing debate about the threats to the integrity of the CBR building and its surroundings (Chaussée de La Hulpe at Boitsfort), has led us to setting out the situation with regard to this question. It also seems important to us to detail our role in this project.
Our mission involves the construction of for residential accommodation to the rear of the site, on the Drève des Tumuli (a predominantly residential zone within the PRAS).
From the start of our studies, we have been aware of the importance of the site of the CBR building in heritage, cultural and historic terms. Our project has been drawn up in total transparency and in collaboration with the relevant authorities: CRMS (Commission Royale des Monuments et Sites), DMS (Direction des Monuments et Sites), BDU (Bruxelles Développement Urbain), BMA (Bouwmeester Maître Architecte) and the office of the Minister-President.
The construction of residential accommodation to the rear of the plot was recognised during a meeting with these authorities (see opinion of the Master Architect and current affairs questions at the Brussels Parliament on June 8th 2018). This recognition of course takes account of the procedure for inclusion on the list of building elements to be safeguarded.
The permit request, will take account of opinions expressed by the relevant authorities and will comply with conditions stipulated during the issuing of the permit.
In its thinking, DDS+ will draw up a project which highlights the CBR building, which implies the landscaping of the site and the architectural integration of the new constructions, while totally respecting the CBR building and its surroundings.
We are proud to have been selected for this project. Our response will provide a qualitative solution in architectural and landscaping terms, to this particularly great challenge.
Finally, we are totally in favour of the conservation and protection, within a spirit of modernity and durability, of the work of Messrs. Marcel Lambrichs and Constantin Brodzki and the surroundings of Mr. René Péchère.
