Cœur de Ville, an initiative of Thomas & Piron, won the competition launched by the city of Namur for the conception of a new district integrating the former 'Casernes' building. Together with the design teams Atelier de l'Arbre d'Or, Qbrik and the landscape architect Atelier Eole, DDS+ designed the winning project that distinguishes itself by its optimal integration in the urban fabric, structuring the new block following existing urban perspectives. The project aims at stitching up the urban fabric with a diverse programme (housing, office, a library, a museum, a bistro, collective terraces with vegetable gardens, a local bio market, urban agriculture, a spacious car and bike park and a green urban park). The today empty spaces will as such be transformed into an exemplary sustainable development, a place where it moreover is pleasant to live, work and spend some time. More
